things to do

There’s a lot to do around Carbondale, so we highly recommend giving yourself some extra time to explore. A few of our favorites:

  • Mountain bike: Carbondale has everything from easy paved rides to legit singletrack, including the Prince Creek and Red Hill trail systems. (Carbondale) For those staying near Aspen or those interested in making a day trip, the ski resorts offer world-class trails.

  • Get on the river: Go fly-fishing on the Roaring Fork or book a whitewater rafting trip (June = plenty of snowmelt + water!).

  • Go for a hike: Trails everywhere, from an easy morning hike around Carbondale to a bigger adventure toward Aspen.

  • Hit the hot springs: Head to Glenwood Springs for an afternoon at the hot springs. Ideal post-hike recovery.

  • Explore Aspen: Wander around town, grab lunch, shop, have a drink, people watch. You know the drill.

  • Spend the day in Snowmass: Head up the valley for mountain views, hiking + an excuse to explore another Colorado mountain town. Some of the mountain’s summer operations may not be open yet in early June, so check schedules before you go.

  • Shopping: Check out historic Glenwood Springs, the ritzy boutiques of Aspen Snowmass, or the small-town-main-street feel of the Midland Avenue shopping district in Basalt.
